Psychological Evaluation & Testing
Why Does Someone Need a Psychological Evaluation?
You might consider a psychological evaluation when something isn’t working the way it should — academically, professionally, emotionally, or in daily life — but the reason isn’t fully clear. These assessments help answer questions like why focus feels difficult, why learning has been inconsistent, why anxiety or burnout keep returning, or why past diagnoses haven’t fully explained your experience. A comprehensive evaluation looks at how you think, learn, regulate emotions, and navigate the world, providing a clear understanding of strengths, challenges, and underlying patterns. The goal isn’t just a diagnosis — it’s practical clarity and tailored recommendations so you can move forward with the right supports, strategies, and direction.
What is a Psychological Evaluation?
A psychological evaluation is a comprehensive assessment that helps clarify what's going on when something feels off, whether that's difficulty concentrating, unexplained emotional struggles, or a sense that you or your teen isn't reaching their potential.
Using a combination of interviews, evidenced-based standardized tests, and observation, I'll build a clear picture of your cognitive, emotional, behavioral, academic and neurodevelopmental functioning. The process is tailored to your specific concerns, not a one-size-fits-all checklist.
You might consider an evaluation if you're seeking answers about ADHD, intellectual giftedness, learning differences, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, or other conditions that haven't been clearly diagnosed. Many clients come to me after years of feeling misunderstood, and find that having a thorough, well-written report finally gives them language for their experience and a roadmap for moving forward.
