Sophia Norman, Psy.D

I received my master’s and doctorate in clinical psychology from The Wright Institute, an APA-accredited graduate school in Berkeley, California. I completed my pre-doctoral internship at The University of San Francisco Counseling and Psychological Services, and post-doc at Crossroads Institute outpatient clinic in Los Angeles. My training includes working with teens and adults; focusing on treatment for complex trauma, depression, anxiety, relational difficulties, life transitions and identity issues, perfectionism and burnout. I especially love working with college and graduate students, working professionals and high-achievers, and those on the spectrums of neurodivergence (ADHD, Autism, and OCD) and sexual and gender identities, BIPOC, international folks and immigrants.

About Me:

As a therapist, I find meaning in supporting people as they navigate toward lives that feel more sustainable, connected, and aligned with their values. Over time, I’ve observed that healing tends to unfold in relationships grounded in trust, curiosity, humility, and oftentimes a sense of humor. I approach therapy with a deep respect for your intersecting identities, cultural context, and the broader systems that shape your experiences.

My practice is integrative and trauma-informed, drawing primarily from relational psychodynamic frameworks. I also incorporate tools from DBT, ACT, feminist theory, and somatic approaches, offering both insight and practical support depending on your needs. I aim to create a space where complexity is welcomed—where it’s possible to slow down, reflect, and engage with the parts of yourself that want attention, care, or change.

Therapy can be challenging, especially when confronting long-held patterns or the impacts of living within unjust systems. But it can also be deeply rewarding. Reaching out for support is no small thing, and I hold that process with care.

I offer tele-health to clients in California and Washington, and in-person sessions in Los Angeles, CA. Comprehensive assessment services may be offered in person in Bellingham, WA at a later date.
